January 2023: Environmental & Street Cleansing Walkabouts

January 2023: Environmental & Street Cleansing Walkabouts

Alongside our Green Volunteering: Litter Picking, our Environmental & Street Cleansing Walkabouts support Hammersmith BID’s commitment to creating a more resilient and attractive town centre.

Reporting the Environmental Walkabouts

Environmental and Street Cleanliness issues are documented by the lovecleanstreets app. Supported by Keep Britain Tidy, the app allows you to make reports which reach the right team within the authority, in this case, Hammersmith and Fulham Council. The app enables you to report on a variety of issues that are negatively impacting the public realm. The issues reported include:

      • Highway Maintenance
      • Highway Obstructions
      • Maintenance of parklets and hanging baskets
      • Rubbish
      • Cleansing
      • Graffiti
      • Fly-tipping
      • Fly-posting

Delivery of Environmental Walkabouts

Hammersmith BID has split the town centre into 3 zones, focusing on the different Environmental issues faced across each.

      • Zone 1 – Broadway
      • Zone 2 – King Street
      • Zone 3 – Talgarth Road

January 2023

In January 2023, there were different issues across the 3 zones. 27 different incidents were reported via the lovecleanstreets app and within 2 weeks, around 75 per cent of them were solved, and the rest remain in progress.

Zone 1: Zone 1 encompasses the areas around Hammersmith’s Broadway centre and includes Hammersmith Road and Shepherd’s Bush Road. The main incidents in Zone 1 included Highway Maintenance, Highway Obstructions, Fly-tipping, and Graffiti. While 4/13 incidents in Zone 1 weren’t resolved within 2 weeks, the majority were.

Zone 2: King Street makes up the vast majority of Zone 2. Graffiti and Fly-tipping were pinpointed as the most common issues along Hammersmith’s main High-street. Of the 10 incidents reported, 90 per cent were solved within 2 weeks.

Zone 3: Zone 3 includes Talgarth Road, Hammersmith Flyover, and Fulham Palace Road. Incidents of Highway Maintenance, Highway Obstructions, and Graffiti were identified and 50 percent resolved. The broken way-finding sign still needs fixing and the abandoned bikes still need removing, the Graffiti was dealt with almost immediately.
