Litter Picking Day with 245 Hammersmith Road

Litter Picking Day with 245 Hammersmith Road

Hammersmith BID is working with our local businesses to keep Hammersmith tidy.

Litter picking days are part of our sustainability commitments and support the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, which believes every action to protect the environment, no matter how small, makes a difference. Our goal is to inspire people to eliminate litter for current and future generations. Hammersmith BID aims to permanently change behaviour by spotlighting the problem daily and offering creative solutions for improving the environment on everyone’s doorstep. We believe it is people’s right to live and work in places they can be proud of, leading us to join #LitterHeroes from all over the UK.

As part of our Green Volunteering Programme, Hammersmith BID organised a litter picking day with volunteers from 245 Hammersmith Road to tidy up the town centre on Friday 29th July 2022.

Volunteers met at 245 Hammersmith Road for coffee and breakfast before splitting into two groups. One group cleaned along Lyric Square and up the Hammersmith Grove parklets. The other group focused on collecting litter from the planters under the Flyover and the Novotel area before the two teams reconvened at St. Paul’s Green.

A huge thank you to our volunteers at 245 Hammersmith Road, who removed eighteen bags of litter from the town centre, containing 79 glass and plastic bottles, 100s of cigarette butts, various items of clothing, and large items inducing an abandoned highway sign.

Alongside our Litter Picking days, Hammersmith BID also offers more green volunteering opportunities throughout the year. If you would like to be involved, or for more information on green volunteering options, contact the BID team at a.altenausmith@hammersmithbid.co.uk.
