24 Jul Hammersmith Flyover – final closures
The Hammersmith Flyover will be closed across a number of dates in July and August as final strengthening work is undertaken.
Following a mammoth repair job, which has lasted almost four years, engineers are entering the final stage which will see the last few closures taking place.
A combination of eastbound and westbound routes will be closed from Friday, July 24 – Friday, July 31 and from Monday, August 3 – Monday, August 10.

The Hammersmith Flyover was dramatically shut in December 2011 after engineers discovered that its vital steel cables were eroding. The structure was shut while engineers carried out round-the-clock repairs, bandaging it up in time for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Since summer 2012, engineers have been finishing that work.
The closure and subsequent repairs have led many people to question the future of the flyover, with many suggesting it be replaced with a tunnel, a project which the BID strongly supports and has done since its inception. To read more on the Hammersmith Flyunder project, click here.
