19 Jan BID CCTV Operator clamps down on town centre crime
The BID CCTV Operator working with the local Safer Neighbourhood Team has again had numerous successes whilst acting as the eyes and ears of the Hammersmith Town Centre.
• In the last month CCTV monitored an aggressive shoplifter stealing from a high street retailer whilst armed with a long stick. CCTV managed the situation and alerted the SNT Team who attended and promptly arrested the male.
• CCTV also followed another male shoplifter who had already left one store and was hiding in another trying to evade capture. CCTV monitored and led the police to his location where he was detained and arrested. Had it not been for operators fast response the shoplifter may well have gotten away.
• In terms of the evening economy, CCTV picked a male who had been ejected from a late night venue in the Town Centre. CCTV kept an eye on the person who then returned to the venue and started behaving aggressively to the door staff. Again the police attended promptly and arrested the suspect.
These and other incidents are logged and then passed to the Shopwatch and Pubwatch to ensure that images are shared and details are given to local businesses to ensure they are forewarned against unwanted patrons. For more information contact Matthew John on m.john@hammermsithlondon.co.uk
