December 2023: Environment Walkabout

December 2023: Environment Walkabout

Our Environmental & Street Cleansing Walkabouts support our commitment to creating a resilient town centre. During our walkabouts, we focus on escalating and resolving issues across the three zones of the BID area, helping to improve the public realm in Hammersmith. During our December Environmental Walkabout, we reported 41 incidents via the lovecleanstreets app.

Most incidents reported were related to issues of highway obstruction, but after one month, around 60% of all reports have been closed.

Zone 1: Hammersmith Road, Shepherd’s Bush Road and Hammersmith Broadway

Across Zone 1 of the Hammersmith BID area, there was an increase in the number of cases of offensive graffiti, particularly around the Hammersmith Broadway station. An increase in graffiti is a cause for concern, and something we are working with H&F Council, Safer Business Network and Metropolitan Police to prevent. Following reporting, these incidents were dealt with in 48 hours.

Zone 2: King Street, Beadon Road and Hammersmith Grove

Highway obstructions were the main issues reported across Zone 2 of the Hammersmith BID area. In addition to escalating incidents through the lovecleanstreets app, we raised concerns around the influx of abandoned bikes in Hammersmith to the Law Enforcement Team (LET) at H&F Council. We anticipate the remaining 25% of incidents will be resolved shortly.

Similarly to Zone 1, there were several incidents of graffiti. However, 100% of reports have been dealt with.

Zone 3: Hammersmith Flyover, Talgarth Road and Fulham Palace Road

The team at Hammersmith BID reported incidents of graffiti, waste spillage and highway obstructions across Zone 3. After three weeks, just two reports remain open, and 100% of all abandoned bikes within the zone have been removed from the public realm.
