03 Dec Giving Tuesday in Hammersmith
Tuesday 3 December 2024 marks Giving Tuesday. At Hammersmith BID we work with local businesses and charities to create a thriving community, and there are many ways you and your organisation can contribute this December.
SCRUM Theatre
This year SCRUM Theatre, newly opened on Talgarth Road, is participating in #GivingTuesday!
As performance venues close, up and down the country, you can be a part of grassroots arts regeneration, right on your doorstep in the BID area. By giving £5 to the charity, you’ll help transform an empty warehouse next to the flyover into a brand-new theatre venue for emerging artists in Hammersmith.
You can donate here.
Watch celebrated actor and Hammersmith local David Gyasi (The Diplomat, Interstellar) speak about the work SCRUM are doing:
As well as transforming empty commercial spaces into buzzing creative hubs, SCRUM Theatre provides artists and residents with accessible training, resources, rehearsal studios, and performance spaces. Their aim is to sow the seeds of the next generation of theatre makers and audiences, at this time of crisis for the arts. In partnership with other charities, they focus support on beneficiaries who face the biggest barrier to access. SCRUM believes the theatre belongs to everyone.
As their patron, Adrian Lester, says, “If you can make arts accessible to everyone in Britain, regardless of age, regardless of location, and regardless of income, you would be delivering to the country a second health service.”
Another way your business could help Hammersmith’s local community is by donating to H&F’s Big Christmas Day Lunch 2024.
Can you or your business help ensure none of our older neighbours are alone this Christmas?
H&F Giving believes that no one should be alone this Christmas and that’s why on Christmas Day, they are teaming up with Hammersmith & Fulham Council to host their annual H&F Big Christmas Day Lunch for up to 500 older and isolated members of our community.
At Hammersmith BID, we are supporters of the event, but H&F Giving continue to look for more amazing partners to come together and make this a special day. There are so many ways you can get involved:
- £35: Could pay for a two-course meal for an older, isolated resident to enjoy with new friends.
- £80: Could pay for one isolated resident’s full Christmas package. This includes a delicious two-course lunch including dessert, live entertainment, raffle, and a gift bag full of goodies to take home.
- £1,000: Sponsor a table and bring joy to 10 older people living alone. Your company branded table will enjoy a full lunch together, whilst making new connections, enjoying live entertainment, raffle, and receiving a gift package to take home.
You can find a link to H&F Giving’s full corporate sponsorship options here.
You could also support or donate to Barons Court Project, a day centre in Hammersmith and Fulham, supporting people on a low income, those who are homeless or vulnerable to mental illness.
Can your organisation help with donations or in-kind support?
- In-kind: Barons Court Project urgently needs in-kind support, including shower gel, disposable razors, shaving foam, toothpaste, toothbrushes and spray deodorant.
- Donations: Barons Court Project has set up a Cost-of-Living Crisis Appeal, and you can donate
