Litter picking day with HSBC

Hammersmith BID is working with our local businesses to keep Hammersmith tidy.

As part of our Green Volunteering programme, Hammersmith BID organised a litter picking day with generous volunteers from HSBC to tidy up the town centre on Wednesday, 6th April.

This is part of our wider sustainability commitments, and supports the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, which believes that every act to protect the environment, no matter how small, makes a difference.

We joined #LitterHeroes from all over the UK as part of the seventh Great British Spring Clean week, which took place 25 March – 10 April.

Our teams met in Lyric Square, with half cleaning up the Hammersmith Grove parklets and the other half focussing on collecting litter from the planters under the Flyover, the Novotel area and Fulham Palace Road. They met at St. Paul’s Green to clear up the area around there.

A huge thank you to our HSBC volunteers, who removed eight bags of litter from the town centre, containing more than 150 items of litter, including: 106 cans; 18 plastic bottles; 17 glass bottles; 11 bulky waste items; and 100s of cigarette butts.

The BID also offers more green volunteering opportunities throughout the year. If you would like to be involved, or for more information on green volunteering options for team days and more, please contact the BID team here.
