The Boat Race returns

The Boat Race returns

The Boat Race returns on Sunday 3 April and you can watch it in all its glory as it makes its way along the Thames.

Hammersmith boasts a great vantage point for the race, with big screens showing BBC coverage in Furnivall Gardens Fan Park, open from 12 noon, as well as the boat race going past live at its mid point, adding to the atmosphere. This is the first time the Boat Race is back in London for two years, so it is set to be a great day by the river.

Please note, Hammersmith Bridge will be closed as safety experts have instructed H&F Council to close the bridge to pedestrians, cyclists and e-scooters between 10am and 5pm on the day.

The Boat Race was first raced by crews from Oxford and Cambridge University in 1829 and is now one of the world’s oldest and most famous amateur sporting events, offering an unrivalled educational experience to the student athletes who take part.

The Women’s race kicks off the day at 14:23, with the Men’s race ending the competition an hour later.

For those visiting, you can dine in Hammersmith, with plenty of pubs and restaurants to choose from, from Bill’s, to the Hammersmith Ram, to the newly-opened Bar + Block Steakhouse. And remember that with your Privilege Card, you can even get a discount at some hospitality venues.
