03 Aug Tube strike scheduled for August 5/6
Transport for London are urging commuters to plan their journey’s carefully ahead of this week’s scheduled tube strike.
The ASLEF, RMT, Unite and TSSA unions are currently planning strike action from 6.30pm on Wednesday, August 5 and all day Thursday, August 6. Normal service will resume by the morning of Friday, August 7. Commuters should carry out their journeys as early as possible on Wednesday, as the network will be exceptionally busy between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.
They are also offering this advice for Thursday 6 August
• Extra bus and river services will run to help people get around, but all public transport and roads will be much busier than usual, especially during peak hours. Please travel outside the morning and evening peaks if you can
• Buses do not accept cash so customers will need to use their contactless debit or credit card, or Oyster
• Additional Santander Cycles hubs will be in place at key central London locations to make cycling an easy option
• Customers are advised to check before they travel at www.tfl.gov.uk/tube-strike and by following @TfLTravelAlerts, @TfLTrafficNews and @TfLBusAlerts on Twitter
• TfL Ambassadors and volunteers will also be on hand to provide customers with travel information and advice on the ground.
