08 Jul Tube strike travel advice
Transport for London is advising all commuters to plan their journeys carefully ahead of this evening’s tube strike.
Wednesday 8 July
Customers are advised to complete their Tube journeys by 18:00 today, and travel earlier if possible. Services are expected to be exceptionally busy between 16:00 and 18:00. Please travel earlier if you can and allow more time for your journey.
Thursday 9 July
There will be no Tube service all day. Extra bus and river services will run. Other public transport and roads will be much busier than usual, especially during peak hours. Please travel outside the peak times if you can.
Friday 10 July
There may be some disruption during the morning as services resume.
• Staff on the bus network, the DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail, Trams, river services, Emirates Air Line and Santander Cycles are not on strike.
• There is separate strike action by the RMT on First Great Western services from Thursday 9 July for 48-hours. TfL advises customers to check with their train operators or national rail enquiries.
• TfL will have staff on hand to help people find their destinations on foot, by bus, by Santander Cycles or by other means. Please click here for a copy of the Central London walking map and Central London bus map.
• Around 200 extra buses are being provided to boost capacity on the main commuter corridors and to and from mainline stations.
• Additional temporary Santander Cycles hubs will mean more bikes will be available at the busiest locations. Extra river services are also being provided. But in both cases, these will be very busy and customers are asked to bear with the transport staff who are at work and trying to help them get around.
