03 Apr Spring Clothes Swap Round-up
In celebration of sustainability and the arrival of spring, Hammersmith BID and Livat Hammersmith hosted a Spring Clothes Swap in Livat’s Pop-up Space from 25-29 March. The Swap hosted a free Mending Workshop, to help revive tired and torn clothing items, and was run alongside the launch of Livat’s Spring Market.
Spring Clothes Swap
Swappers from Hammersmith’s resident, employee and visitor community were invited to swap their pre-loved clothes for something new. We were thrilled to provide the opportunity for people to give their wardrobe a free and sustainable refresh, just in time for spring. Over the course of the week, the Spring Clothes Swap facilitated around 400 swaps and helped save 112kg of clothing from landfill.
So far, our Clothes Swaps have prevented 500 kg of clothes from ending up in landfill and have seen almost 2,000 items of clothing swapped. You can find more information about previous Clothes Swaps below.

Mending Workshop
In conjunction with the Spring Clothes Swap, the space also hosted a Mending Workshop. People were invited to bring their clothes to be fixed or revamped for the new season. The session was well attended with projects ranging from dress alterations to zip additions. Individuals walked away more informed with tips and tricks on how to fix tears, holes or make amendments at home in the future.
Launch Event: Livat Hammersmith’s Spring Market
On Wednesday 27 March 2024 the Spring Clothes Swap had a late opening to coincide with the launch of Livat’s Spring Market. Market stalls, entertainment, live music and food and drink helped celebrate the launch of the market and encouraged people to swap and shop locally. You can find out more about Livat’s Spring Market here, running from now until Sunday 21 April 2024.
