Free Guided Walk: The Man Who Drowned (2nd July)
Supporting the Mayor of London’s goal to promote inclusive ways of reaching net zero by 2030, as part of our 2022 Summer Festival and in support of London Climate Action Week, Hammersmith BID will be facilitating a free guided walk. Centered around the story of printer and bookbinder Thomas James Cobden Sanderson, 100 years after his death, the walk will start at Stamford Brook tube station at 11am on Saturday 2nd July.

Zero Emissions Market (3rd July)
Since November 2021, in support of climate action, Hammersmith BID has been running a monthly pop-up Zero Emissions Market. The Zero Emissions Market in Hammersmith is the first of its kind in London. Both the quality products sold by local traders and the stall equipment are transported via Parcels not Pollution, Hammersmith’s zero emissions delivery service.
The market, for which you can find more information here, will be returning to Lyric Square on the 3rd July in time to round up LCAW.
Green Volunteering
Hammersmith BID is working with our local businesses to keep Hammersmith tidy.
This is part of our broader sustainability commitments and supports the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, which believes that every act to protect the environment, no matter how small, makes a difference. We join #LitterHeroes from all over the UK.
The BID also offers more green volunteering opportunities throughout the year. Please Contact the BID team at a.altenausmith@hammersmithbid.co.uk if you would like to be involved or for more information on green volunteering options for team days.
E-Scooter
Hammersmith BID are partnering with TIER and Bikeworks to provide free E-Scooter training for our privilege card holders. Use the link to sign-up for a 30-minute lunchtime slot (12 pm – 2 pm) on Wednesday the 29th June.
Dr Bike
As part of our mission to encourage active travel and reduce emissions, Hammersmith BID and the council are working together with Dr Bike. During London Climate action week, bike mechanics will be on hand 11am – 4pm from 27th – 29th June to give people’s bicycles a quick check-up.
Click here to sign-up for a 20-minute slot.
Library of Things
Library of Things will be on Lyric Square from 12 pm – 3 pm on the 28th and 29th June. Library of Things is a social enterprise which allows people to borrow useful quality items for a few pounds a day, supporting the clean air initiative by reducing the total consumption of items they may only use once.
Find out more where you can find Library of Things in Hammersmith, and what you can borrow here.
Find a Clean Air Route
As part of their ‘Clean Air Better Business’ initiative, Cross River Partnership (CRP) created a Clean Air Route Finder. The route finder aims to support businesses and individuals to choose a clean air route and minimize exposure to air pollution.
Find your clean air walking route here.
Women’s Safety and Climate Action
What is the use in having a clean air walking route if they make women feel unsafe?
Hammersmith BID has been working toward creating a safer place for women to live, work, and visit by holding a quarterly Women’s Safety Forum however, this remains an ongoing issue.
During London Climate Action Week, on the 30th June from 6 pm- 9 pm, The Women’s Environment Network (Wen) will be holding an event which includes discussion on climate action from a feminist perspective. While choosing to take a side street may reduce levels of exposure to air pollution, however, is also more likely to make a woman feel unsafe, especially at night.

Final Remarks
We hope to see you at our events, supporting the initiative to take climate action!
