02 May Green Volunteering: Litter Picking with CAA
Hammersmith BID works with local businesses to support the Keep Britain Tidy campaign as part of our sustainability commitment, facilitating litter-picking sessions and other green volunteering for local businesses. Every act to protect the environment, no matter how small, makes a difference.
The campaign aims to inspire people to eliminate litter for current and future generations. Green Volunteering can help permanently change behaviour, spotlight the problem, and offer creative solutions. We are proud to be joining #LitterHeroes across the UK, working with employees from local businesses to achieve these goals.
Litter Picking with CAA: 18 April 2023
On 18 April 2023, Hammersmith BID met the 15 volunteers from the CAA Taskforce outside 245 Hammersmith Road for their briefing. After a group lunch, the Taskforce split into two teams. Group 1 headed to Talgarth Road & Butterwick, the bee-friendly planting area under the Flyover, and Fulham Palace Road. Group 2 collected litter from Hammersmith Road, Hammersmith Grove Parklets, and Lyric Square before both groups met at St Paul’s Green for a debrief, some pictures, and the litter drop-off.
A big thank you to the CAA Taskforce who, during their 90-minute litter pick, filled 14 bags of litter. These contained 65 cans, 40 plastic bottles, 72 glass bottles, 100s of cigarette butts, and several bulky items, including a bike seat, pliers and a circuit board.
