15 Aug It’s a wrap for our Summer Festival 2024!
This year we celebrated our 17th Summer Festival with a jam-packed programme of free events, including a summer of sport on the Big Screen, film nights, wellness days, live music and more!
Big Screen events
As the headline feature of our Summer Festival, our Big Screen returned to Lyric Square providing entertainment for eight weeks. We screened both major sporting events, Wimbledon and the Paris Olympics, plus our family film nights made a comeback with screenings of Barbie (17 July), followed by Wonka (19 July) and finally, Pixar’s classic, Toy Story (Thursday 25 July). We provided Hammersmith BID deckchairs at most Big Screen events, so you could be entertained in comfort!
Wellness Wednesdays
In partnership with Livat Hammersmith, we hosted a four-week programme of wellness events. Every Tuesday throughout July, we hosted Feel Good Tuesdays where we offered a range of wellbeing events for the body and mind in Lyric Square.
The wellness tent in Lyric Square was occupied by breathwork coach, Aliyah, and yoga teacher, Sandy, who hosted a range of wellness activities each week.
Some weeks, local fitness studios hosted additional events to promote their own timetable. To launch the first Feel Good Tuesday, FRAME hosted a free dance cardio class and Lumi Power Yoga hosted a Power Yoga class for the last two weeks of Feel Good Tuesdays. All wellness events were free to attend.
London Climate Action Week (LCAW)
The last week of June marked London Climate Action Week (LCAW), and in celebration, Hammersmith BID hosted a Climate Festival and Community Clothes Swap.
We held our Climate Festival on Lyric Square, where we offered free bike maintenance and marking, an observation beehive, wildflower planting and bird seed pick-n-mix workshops.
In collaboration with Livat Hammersmith, we set up our Community Clothes Swap in the Livat Atrium from Thursday 27 to Saturday 29 June. The three-day swap facilitated 610 swaps and helped prevent 176.9kg of clothing ending up in landfill. Find out more
Make Music Day
To celebrate Make Music Day, we welcomed local talented musicians to perform in the Livat Atrium. This event was hosted in partnership with Livat Hammersmith who were celebrating Midsommar Fest on the same day, to mark the summer solstice (21 June). The collaboration of the events contributed to an action-packed day with live music all day alongside face painting and flower crown making. Find out more
Football 360 with Fulham FC Foundation
In collaboration with Livat Hammersmith and Fulham FC Foundation, we are hosted an inclusive day of football activities on Lyric Square across four days! Alongside football fun, attendees also enjoyed a free snack bag provided by IKEA. Fulham FC mascot, Billy the Badger also made an appearance to cheer people on! Find out more
The Family Olympics with Chelsea FC Foundation
We welcomed back Chelsea FC Foundation to host an Olympics-inspired sports day to inspire healthy living among Hammersmith families, In collaboration with Livat. There were fun football activities, games and a football quiz where the winner won a signed Chelsea football shirt. IKEA was also in attendance, providing lunch for all participants. Find out more
